We were commissioned for a densification project.
The character of the area, but not the actual buildings where under preservation
As the character of the area, but not the actual buildings where under preservation it became difficult to figure out the approach, since every intervention would interfere with the area. If we would extend the existing apartment building, we would not only interfere with the area, but also a building that where a part of the area. So, as we started to sketch it became clear that we needed to detach the new from the existing, but still look at the project as a hole.
