of the ground
The main approach has been to question the classical notion of the ground, and the cliche of inside/outside in architecture (traditionally seen as a separation by glass) The intention was to move beyond this classical understanding by internalizing the landscape and externalising the interior.
The house is situated in a complex topography made up of different landforms, where the terrain falls in multiple directions with natural terraces. By mapping the sites topography, it was made possible to place the house on the ground without any use of dynamite or other ground manipulations.
The house responds differently to every ground condition surrounding the house, generating specific expressions to the facade.
The project has actively researched different ways to interpret the notion of the ground – how the building meets it – lying on, in to, and reaching out of. In this sense the house responds differently to every ground condition surrounding the house, generating specific expressions to the facade.
The interior expresses through spatial differentiation an animated transition between rooms and functions.
In the same way as the project establishes distinct relations to the ground, the interior expresses through spatial differentiation an animated transition between rooms and functions. With levels connected by inclined surfaces and variation between wide and narrow spaces that generates connections and vistas both interior as well towards the exterior.
